The Assam Govt. Marketing Corporation Ltd. (AGMC) is purely a commercial organization, besides the marketing of Handloom and Handicrafts items through its Emporia, the Corporation is entirely dependent on 2% service charges acquired through government supply business for managing salaries and other expenditure of the Corporation. It may be stated here that there is no budgetary provision for salary, allowances, etc. for the Corporation.
As per Deed of Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association, Assam Govt. Marketing Corporation Ltd. deals with any supply business i.e. Printing & Stationary, Education & Relief materials, Food materials, Handloom Products, Yarn, Utensil, Office Furniture, By-cycle, Power Tiller, Pump Set, Agriculture items, Sewing Machine, Spray Machine, Hand Pump, C.I. Pipe, PVC Pipe, G.I. Sheet, Play materials etc. and any other suppliable goods.
The Assam Govt. Marketing Corporation Ltd. has very successfully completed supply works to different Govt. Departments like Social Welfare, Education, DRDA, Forest, WPT & BC, Police, SIRD, Agriculture, Char Dev., Labour, Election etc., OBC Development Board, Directorate of Schedule Castes, Directorate of Land Record, Director General of Police, Minority Development Board & other Autonomous Councils i.e. Missing Autonomous Council and Bodoland Territorial Council of Assam etc.
The Corporation participates in various National and International Level Exhibition and Expos held over the country and abroad which helps to generate a good demand for the Handloom, Handicrafts and other allied products of Assam. The Corporation also from time to time implements various schemes sponsored by the Govt. of Assam & Govt. of India as and when sanctioned by the Govt. The Corporation also conducts training programmes and seminars for skill and knowledge up-gradations of the artisans and weavers.
